Bridging the Digital Divide

[singlepic id=4 w=320 h=240 float=left]As KingstonDigitalCorridor.org moves forward with its efforts to market the city’s growing tech-entrepreneur community, the KDC is also developing plans to help bridge the “digital divide”. We want to insure that Kingston’s citizens have opportunities to learn digital tech skills such as video editing, thereby transforming their employment opportunities for the better.

Among our initiatives:
1) We strongly support the renovation of the Carnegie Library as a digital learning center.
2) We are planning to create a computer hardware recycling depot, where older (but still usable) computers can be distributed to folks who want to learn new creative computing skills but don’t have the cost of entry.
3) We plan to create a network of internships for up and coming Kingston tech entrepreneurs to develop their skills in real world work environments.

We are open to any and all suggestions about new ways to bridge the digital divide here. So contact us.
