school_house12114219.jpg When it comes to considering relocation, one of the key decisions is schools. The Kingston City Schools system includes 14 schools that serve not only the city, but the region as well. There’s also several private schools in the area.

Feeling Lucky at UPAC

dirty_harry.jpg We might have mentioned this before, but there’s a great theater — the Ulster Performing Arts Center — right in the heart of Kingston that shows top-notch performers. Recent headliners include: k.d. lang, Steve Winwood and the Indigo Girls.

UPAC also showcases classical music, comedians and dance. But, for my money, the best shows are the movies shown in the 1,500-seat theater. For $5 you can catch classics such as This is Spinal Tap, The Wizard of Oz and Pink Floyd: The Wall.

Hear All About It

Making Kingston’s Digital Corridor work takes the efforts of lots of people: the Geeks on this site, the City of Kingston administration headed by Mayor James Sottile, County resources, and the private sector. On April 8th we took over City Hall to show how it all comes together. But we’ve been asked to tell it again [...]

See the Light

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know that Kingston has WWII PT boats, but did you know that Kingston also has a lighthouse? Originally built of wood in 1837, the structure was rebuilt in 1915, I think, and remains an important historical asset of the City of Kingston. Check out the website for [...]
